Volunteering at the Trust
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Trust and for helping to support your local community.
Volunteering at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital gives you the chance to support patients and staff at your local hospital. Volunteers have non-clinical roles that make a positive impact and improve the experience of patients using the hospital. Volunteers come from all walks of life and represent the diversity of the communities we serve.
As a volunteer, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of an acute hospital, have the opportunity to communicate directly with patients, and experience working in a team with NHS staff and other volunteers as you help provide a positive experience for the patient. You will develop new skills and meet new people. You will also have access to a variety of in-placement training with subject matter experts, as well as awards and recognition.

Keeping volunteers safe during the pandemic
The welfare of patients, staff and volunteers is the Trust’s top priority. The Trust has robust policies and processes in place for deploying volunteers safely during the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes supplying PPE, practicing hand hygiene and social distancing, and providing appropriate training and pre-placement checks. If you have any concerns you may discuss these during the application process.
It is highly recommended that volunteers with face to face patient contact are vaccinated again COVID-19.
Does the Trust offer work experience?
Our volunteering programme is a 6 month weekly placement and is different to work experience.
Work experience is usually a short term placement lasting about a week to observe staff in their working environment.
