    There were Christmas cheers all round on Thursday 18 December as staff at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital received prizes for all their hard work over the past year.

  • Chelsea stars visit sick kids

    Chelsea players including John Terry, Ashley Cole and Didier Drogba visited the children’s wards at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on Wednesday December 17 to spread a little festive cheer.

  • Children's nurse wins prestigious award

    Niamh Geoghegan, Paediatric Continence and Stoma Nurse Specialist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, has won a special award at the prestigious NHS Champions Awards in recognition of her outstanding care for children and their families.

    Patients and their relatives may have seen a BBC1 programme about hospital charges on Wednesday 11 December—‘Dom’s on the Case’—which included claims that Chelsea and Westminster Hospital charges patients more to park here than Chelsea football fans.

    Six foot high posters are now on display at the entrance to all inpatient wards at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in west London to highlight the importance of good nutrition for patients in hospital.

  • Harry’s lifesaving donation in memory of his wife

    A local resident who lost his wife to lung cancer because the disease was not diagnosed until just six weeks before her death has donated £28,000 to Chelsea and Westminster to aid early detection of the killer disease.

  • Top rating for emergency care

    A major review by the Healthcare Commission has rated urgent and emergency care services provided in Kensington and Chelsea as ‘best performing’.

  • Clean bill of health for hospital hygiene

    NHS watchdog the Healthcare Commission carried out an unannounced visit to Chelsea and Westminster in August to check compliance with the Hygiene Code for the control and prevention of healthcare associated infections.

  • Study shows special emergency unit saves lives

    A new study shows that a medical unit developed by Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for patients who need emergency medical care has reduced the number of deaths, the average length of stay and the amount of time patients have to wait in A&E.

    The NHS Champions awards are being run by the King’s Fund in association with the Evening Standard to recognise and celebrate the contribution of healthcare staff in London – as part of the NHS 60th anniversary celebrations.

    250 patients, members of the public and staff attended Chelsea and Westminster Hospital’s first Research and Development Open Day.

  • ‘Excellent’ rating for cleanliness

    Standards of cleanliness at Chelsea and Westminster are officially ‘Excellent’ according to the annual Patient Environment Action Team (PEAT) ratings published for all NHS hospitals in England by the National Patient Safety Agency.

  • Nurses collect national award

    Congratulations to a team of nurses at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital who won a top national award and attended a special House of Commons reception to celebrate their success.

  • International recognition for cancer services

    Chelsea and Westminster’s application to become a European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO)-designated centre of integrated oncology and palliative care has been successful.

  • Waiting times continue to fall

    All NHS hospitals in England must meet a national target to treat 90% of inpatients and 95% of outpatients and day case patients within 18 weeks of GP referral by December 2008.

  • Annual Members’ Meeting—come and join us

    Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust holds its Annual Members’ Meeting at 5.30pm on Thursday September 18 in the Restaurant on the lower ground floor of the hospital.

  • New sexual health centre given the go-ahead

    Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is set to bring sexual health services to the heart of Soho by developing a brand new sexual health centre in the area.

  • Patients praise quality of care

    90% of patients who took part in the Healthcare Commission’s annual survey of hospital inpatients at Chelsea and Westminster said the quality of their care was ‘excellent’, ‘very good’ or ‘good’.

  • Trust team shortlisted for top award

    Trust staff who have worked with colleagues from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) on a Safeguarding Adults Steering Group to protect vulnerable older people were shortlisted for this year’s London Health and Social Care Awards.

  • Patient praises new service

    The first patient to have a heart pacemaker implanted at Chelsea and Westminster has praised the team of staff who have transformed her life in a heartfelt letter of thanks to Consultant Cardiologist Dr Julian Collinson.
