Clinical attachments

Clinical observers are medically qualified individuals normally from outside the UK permitted through their visa status to undertake a short period of study within a clinical setting in the UK.

The observer will not have any clinical responsibilities, perform any procedures nor advise on patient treatment, essentially meaning that the observer will not receive any hands-on experience during the attachment.

The Postgraduate Medical Centre is responsible for administering the appointments of clinical observers. All applications for clinical observer placements must be made in writing to the Postgraduate Medical Education office at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital by emailing .

The PGME Centre manager, in consultation with clinical directors, will identify the appropriate clinical settings for the placement requests. The PGME Centre is responsible for the completion of the arrangements and verification of an individual’s qualification, ID, CRB and other relevant checks commensurate with the Trust’s employment check procedures.
